Chicago Recipes” Gala 2018

CHI Honoree Howard R. Conant, Jr. with CHI Board President Chris Stathopoulos

It was a night to remember at this year’s Chicago Help Initiative’s annual fundraiser, “Chicago Recipes,” held on June 7 at the beautiful Montgomery Club in Chicago.

Our 250 guests enjoyed live music from uber-talented singer/keyboardist John Jones while noshing on delicious fare from our partner restaurants including raw oysters from Benny’s Chophouse, surf & turf canapes from Gibsons Steakhouse, handmade gnocchi from Volare, mini crab cakes from Hugo’s Frog Bar, prime Angus cheeseburger sliders from Lux Bar, artisanal cheeses and charcuterie from Quartinos, and flank steak with horse radish mashed potatoes from Texas De Brazil. There were plenty of sweet treats courtesy of Candyality, Eli’s Cheesecake and The Montgomery Club. Guests also enjoyed fine wines and beverages provided by Heaven Hill Distilleries and MillerCoors.

CHI honored Howard R. Conant, Jr., president of Urban Innovations, with the Jacqueline C. Hayes “Helping Hand” Award for his longtime support of CHI’s mission.

Each of our guests received a complimentary recipe book containing short bios on CHI's guests and volunteers along with their favorite recipe that our Gala guests can try at home. The book also featured recipes from each of our participating restaurants.

Our live auctioneer, Marion Valle, kept the energy in the room high with paddles-up bidding that helped us raise over $20,000 in just a few minutes! We also featured a silent auction with over 40 items including Elite Island Resorts trips to St. Lucia, Antigua and Panama. Other packages included restaurant gift certificates, custom suits, and luxury designer goods.

Overall, our Gala raised over $90,000 to support the weekly meals, programs, and services we provide year-round to Chicagoans in need and facing homelessness.

Thank you to all of our supporters, partners and guests who came out to support CHI’s mission and made the evening a great success! Check out more photos from the evening:
